Charitable Stranger

I went to a charity event tonight and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the evening, more than I thought I would. It was fun to watch people come and go. Some really dressed up, others not so much, but all having a great time mingling and rubbing elbows, networking. I found a table in the corner, so as to not be in the way, and while I was busy people watching, I was being watched, too, and didn’t even realize it. Half way through the event I glanced to my right to see someone standing amongst the masses with his eyes locked on me. At first I quickly glanced away but then looked right back to find that he wasn’t hiding that he was watching me. I fidgeted, nervously smiled and broke eye contact, but he was unnerved and didn’t waver. I wasn’t sure what his intentions were; I was just shocked at his brazen stares. As the event was coming to an end and people started to make their way out, he didn’t move. When I was ready to leave I walked by him, wondering if we would speak, and as I slowly brushed up against him, smiling and making eye contact, he leaned over and whispered into my ear, “I love your website, Angel". I stopped to talk to him but he slipped me his number and asked that I call him sometime and then he turned to walk away. I was left stunned, as now I was the one who couldn’t stop watching him. This stranger spent all night with his attention on me, and when we finally made contact he turned to walk away, leaving me with thoughts of him, which is what I think he wanted. Mission accomplished.
